Role Overview

As a Special Education Teacher, you will have the unique opportunity to provide exceptional education to students with various disabilities in a fully remote setting. You will develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs, working collaboratively with parents, administrators, and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Develop IEPs: Create and implement Individualized Education Programs for students with special needs, ensuring that each plan is customized to support student success.

Assessment and Evaluation: Use a variety of assessment tools to evaluate student progress, making adjustments to instruction as necessary to meet individual learning goals.

Inclusive Learning: Foster an inclusive virtual classroom environment that promotes engagement and participation from all students.

Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers and specialists to ensure effective inclusion and accommodations for students.

Diverse Teaching Techniques: Utilize various teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students have access to the curriculum.

Progress Monitoring: Monitor and document student progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

Parent Communication: Foster open communication with parents, involving them in their child's education and progress.

Professional Development: Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and other school-related activities as required.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Teaching or Special Education.

Certification: Valid Michigan state Special Education Teaching Certification.

Experience: Preferably previous experience working with students with special needs. Experience with virtual learning environments is a plus.
