Shipping & Logistics Cost Analyst — UPS & FedEx Proposal Review (Project-Based)

We are seeking an experienced shipping and logistics cost analyst to review and evaluate carrier proposals from UPS and FedEx. Our goal is to optimize parcel shipping spend by identifying cost-saving opportunities, clarifying terms, and ensuring pricing models are fully understood and leveraged. This is a project-based engagement with the potential for future work as new carrier proposals or renegotiations arise. Key Responsibilities: Review and analyze parcel shipping proposals and contracts from UPS and FedEx. Evaluate detailed rate structures, including base transportation, residential surcharges, fuel, DIM weight, and accessorial fees. Model and compare current vs. proposed shipping spend using historical shipment data (zones, weights, package dimensions, service levels). Provide clear recommendations on cost-saving opportunities and negotiation points. Summarize findings in a clear, actionable report that decision-makers can use during negotiations. Qualifications: Proven expertise with UPS and FedEx parcel agreements, incentives, and surcharge structures. Strong understanding of domestic shipping zones, DIM factors, and carrier service levels. Advanced Excel or data modeling skills (able to analyze large shipping datasets). Experience working with SMB or mid-size eCommerce shippers preferred. Excellent communication skills — ability to translate complex pricing into clear recommendations. Deliverables: Comprehensive review of our existing and proposed carrier contracts. Comparative cost analysis showing potential savings and risks. Actionable recommendations for negotiation and optimization. Engagement Type: Project-based. Work will likely require 5–15 hours initially, depending on depth of analysis. Possible follow-up work when new proposals arise or for periodic shipping spend reviews.
