[Remote] Intern - Simon-Skjodt Center for the Prevention of Genocide (Policy)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is a federally chartered institution dedicated to Holocaust remembrance, scholarship, and education, as well as genocide prevention. They are seeking an intern for the Simon-Skjodt Center for the Prevention of Genocide to assist with policy analysis, research projects, and outreach efforts related to mass atrocities and genocide prevention. Responsibilities • Monitor ongoing developments in, and draft short written products regarding, multiple Simon-Skjodt Center country cases, including, but not limited to, Burma, China, India, South Sudan, Sudan, and Syria • Work on a variety of research projects related to the dynamics of mass atrocities and policy response to countries at risk of or currently experiencing mass atrocities • Monitor and summarize news developments in countries at high risk of mass atrocities • Support the organizing of private or public convenings • Prepare detailed notes from interviews and meetings • Draft analytic blog posts and rapporteur’s reports • Assist in tracking policy outreach to public officials • Other duties as assigned Skills • A strong interest in transitional justice, or genocide and mass atrocity prevention, as indicated by dedicated coursework, research experience, and/or professional experience. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills • Strong organization and attention to detail • The student must be 18 years or older currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university • The student must have completed at least the first semester of their freshman year (At least at the time of application) • Provide proof of legal right to work in the United States • Must be able to pass a background check • Must reside in the United States for the full duration of the internship program. • Must complete their background check while physically present in the United States. • Experience with research and writing about contemporary mass atrocities and their prevention, as indicated by dedicated coursework, research experience, and/or professional experience • Experience conducting research about contemporary cases of mass atrocities and/or countries at risk of potential mass atrocities Education Requirements • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited university Company Overview • United States Holocaust Memorial Museum encourages citizens and leaders to combat intolerance, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity.
