Reimbursement Strategy Consultant (Medical Device)

Remote Full-time
Location: Remote / Flexible Engagement: Short-term Consulting (Initial 8–12 week engagement) Industry: Medical Device / Digital Health / Aging Care Overview We are seeking an experienced Reimbursement Strategy Consultant to help define the early-stage reimbursement roadmap for a connected medical device. The focus of this engagement is not payer outreach but rather establishing the strategic foundation—mapping the reimbursement landscape, identifying potential coverage pathways, and aligning the clinical study design with payer-relevant outcomes. This role is ideal for a consultant who bridges health economics, clinical evidence design, and regulatory strategy, and who can translate business goals into an actionable plan for evidence generation. Key Responsibilities Conduct a landscape assessment of relevant coverage, coding, and payment precedents for comparable technologies (e.g., monitoring, smart textiles, or home-use Class I/II devices). Define the reimbursement evidence roadmap — outlining the milestones, studies, and data packages needed to demonstrate clinical and economic value. Partner with the clinical and regulatory teams to align trial endpoints with payer expectations, such as reductions in hospitalizations, staff labor, UTIs, or other cost drivers. Recommend primary and secondary outcomes for upcoming pilot and pivotal studies that will be credible to both CMS and commercial payers. Identify potential HEOR and real-world evidence opportunities to strengthen future submissions. Draft the initial reimbursement strategy brief summarizing key findings, recommended pathways (existing codes vs. new code applications), and evidence priorities. Provide input on budgeting and sequencing of activities to align reimbursement milestones with commercialization timelines. Qualifications 7–10 years of experience in medical device reimbursement strategy, market access, or health economics and outcomes research (HEOR). Proven success in defining clinical and economic endpoints that supported payer adoption or coverage expansion. Deep understanding of CMS frameworks, coding processes (HCPCS/CPT), and value demonstration in post-acute or long-term care settings. Experience collaborating with clinical study designers or regulatory strategists to integrate reimbursement requirements early in development. Familiarity with connected-device or sensor-based technologies preferred. Exceptional analytical and communication skills, with the ability to produce concise, actionable deliverables. Engagement Details Timeline: 8–12 week initial engagement (extension possible) Deliverables: Reimbursement roadmap, evidence matrix, and payer-aligned endpoint recommendations Time Commitment: 10–15 hours/week Compensation: Competitive hourly or milestone-based rate (DOE) Apply tot his job Apply tot his job
