Experienced Remote IT Instructional Designer – E-Learning Development and Training Delivery for Georgia Department of Transportation

Key Responsibilities As an IT Instructional Designer with GDOT, your key responsibilities will include: • Developing and updating training content and materials for GDOT's IT applications and systems, including in-house software, vendor COTS products, and customized solutions • Designing and delivering learning materials, including presentations, tutorials, instructor and student guides, and lesson plans, in multiple media and formats suitable for diverse course audiences • Creating engaging learning activities and compelling course content that meet instructional goals and objectives • Working with subject matter experts to identify target audience training needs and develop training content to address those needs • Applying tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods to create effective training solutions • Measuring and testing user knowledge retention and transfer to ensure the effectiveness of training programs • Creating practical examples and supporting materials, such as audio, video, simulations, role-plays, and games, to enhance the learning experience • Collecting and maintaining training data to support department key performance indicators • Conducting training courses, customer webinars, on-site customer training, and user group sessions to deliver training content to diverse audiences • Establishing effective relationships throughout the organization to identify and address gaps in user training • Remaining knowledgeable about GDOT's IT applications and business strategies to ensure that training materials and courses are relevant and effective Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: • A strong background in instructional design, adult learning theory, and training delivery • Experience with e-learning development tools and technologies, such as learning management systems (LMS), authoring tools, and multimedia software • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including subject matter experts, technical teams, and business units • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical information and develop effective training solutions • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and teamwork • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: • Experience working in a government or public sector organization, with knowledge of state or federal regulations and guidelines • Familiarity with GDOT's IT applications and systems, including Microsoft, Oracle, and Esri products • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design models, such as ADDIE or Agile • Experience with project management tools and techniques, such as Agile or Waterfall • Certification in instructional design, training delivery, or a related field, such as CTT+ or IDOL Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: • Strong technical skills, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical information and develop effective training solutions • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and teamwork • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, with a strong focus on delivering results in a timely and efficient manner Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As an IT Instructional Designer with GDOT, you will have access to a range of career growth opportunities and learning benefits, including: • Professional development opportunities, such as training and certification programs, to enhance your skills and knowledge • Opportunities to work on diverse projects and initiatives, with exposure to new technologies and systems • Collaboration with experienced professionals, with opportunities to learn from others and share your expertise • A dynamic and supportive work environment, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration • Flexible work arrangements, including telework options, to support your work-life balance Work Environment and Company Culture GDOT is committed to providing a positive and supportive work environment, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
