Job Overview We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Baby and Toddler Teacher to join our team in Saint Petersburg, FL. As an Infant Toddler Preschool Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and care to infants and toddlers in an early head start classroom environment. Key Responsibilities Plan, develop, and implement daily lesson plans that provide educational and enrichment activities for infants and toddlers Arrange classrooms into distinctive learning areas that promote an effective learning environment Screen and assess infant and toddler-aged children to determine developmental/educational needs and develop individual education plans Monitor meal and snack periods, classroom and restroom activities, and playground activities to ensure a safe environment Document children's progress and complete required manual and computerized forms and reports Initiate referrals to the appropriate Head Start Teacher and maintain positive caregiver relationships with children Develop and maintain a comprehensive portfolio assessment for each child, including weekly observations and developmental assessments Plan classroom activities for parent and community volunteers and communicate with parents through conferences, written correspondence, and home visits Conduct health checks on children and report any health concerns to the appropriate nurse Plan, coordinate, and oversee field trips and request supplies and equipment for the classroom Essential Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Equivalent A National Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or Florida Child Care Professional Certificate (FCCPC) for Pre-school or Infant/Toddler Endorsement One year of experience in teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, pre-school, or kindergarten-aged children Working knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for infant/toddler education and behavior modification theories Ability to resolve conflicts between toddler-aged children and plan, organize, and implement infant/toddler education curriculums Ability to assume a seated position on the floor for extended periods and prepare and maintain work-related reports and files Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children with special needs Knowledge of current educational techniques and practices relating to infant/toddler development Ability to administer CPR and First Aid Ability to implement safety procedures and provide physical assistance in the transportation of special needs children Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At LSF, we are committed to the growth and development of our staff.
