Director of AI & Intelligent Document Processing

Role Overview: We’re hiring a Director of AI & Intelligent Document Processing to lead the strategy and execution of our document-to-data transformation initiatives. This leader will architect scalable systems using OCR, NLP, LLMs (including Gemini, OpenAI, Claude), and Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platforms. Beyond building today’s solutions, this role is responsible for evaluating emerging technologies, identifying what’s best now and what’s next, and continuously improving our document intelligence capabilities to stay ahead of the curve. Responsibilities: • Architect and lead development of AI-powered document processing pipelines. • Evaluate and integrate IDP platforms (e.g., Klippa, Rossum, Docsumo, Nanonets). • Build scalable APIs and services for document ingestion, classification, and structured data extraction. • Stay on the cutting edge of AI advancements—especially in LLMs like Gemini—and assess their applicability to AmeriSave’s workflows. • Collaborate with product, data science, and operations to optimize downstream analytics and decisioning. • Drive innovation in post-OCR structuring (tables, formulas, handwriting recognition). • Ensure systems meet regulatory, privacy, and security standards. • Mentor engineers and foster a culture of experimentation, ownership, and excellence. Required Skills & Experience: • 8+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in a leadership role. • Deep expertise in OCR (Tesseract, Google Vision, AWS Textract), NLP (spaCy, HuggingFace), and LLMs (Gemini, OpenAI, Claude). • Proven experience integrating IDP platforms into enterprise workflows. • Strong understanding of document formats: PDFs, scanned images, structured forms. • Experience with Python, Java, or Node.js; cloud-native architecture. • Familiarity with RAG pipelines, vector databases, and semantic search. • Passion for evaluating new technologies and driving continuous improvement. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Bonus Points: • Experience with BytePro LOS and Asterisk telephony systems. • Knowledge of mortgage compliance frameworks such as HMDA, TRID, RESPA, and ECOA. • Experience in fintech, lending, or mortgage tech. • Contributions to open-source document AI projects. • Familiarity with compliance workflows (e.g., KYC, income verification). • *Please note that the compensation and benefit information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to applicable state and local laws on pay transparency.
