Data Science Expert Hourly Contract | Part-time | Remote | $80–$120 per hour Role Overview A leading AI research initiative is seeking Data Science Experts to support high-impact research collaborations with top AI labs. In this role, you will apply your expertise in data science, machine learning, and applied statistics to refine AI systems through code validation, prompt evaluation, and model benchmarking. This is a unique opportunity to directly influence the next generation of intelligent systems while working on flexible, cutting-edge projects. Key Responsibilities • Review and refine AI-generated prompts, responses, and code • Validate concepts for technical accuracy and completeness • Provide structured feedback on solution quality, clarity, and efficiency • Tag and organize content by topic, complexity, and application area • Support benchmarking processes to assess and improve model capabilities Ideal Qualifications • 3+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied statistics (industry or research) • Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field (Bachelor’s minimum; advanced degree preferred) • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL; familiarity with R, Java, or Scala is a plus • Hands-on experience building and deploying ML models with scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch • Expertise in statistical analysis, data wrangling, and feature engineering on large datasets • Excellent communication skills with strong analytical and problem-solving ability Project Timeline • Start Date: Immediate • Duration: 1–2 months • Commitment: 15–25 hours/week (with flexibility up to 40 hours/week) • Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous — flexible working hours Compensation & Contract • Rate: $80–$120 USD/hr (based on experience) • Independent contractor engagement • Payments: Processed daily via Stripe Connect Application & Onboarding Process • Upload your resume • Complete a 15-minute AI interview to share your background and expertise • Follow-up communication with next steps and onboarding details within a few days PS: Mercor team reviews applications daily.
