Job title: Chief Learning Officer for Champlain College Online (Remote) - Champlain College Company: Champlain College Job description: Job Description: As a part of a brick-and-mortar institution founded in 1878 in Burlington, Vermont, Champlain College's Online Division has been a leader in online education for 30 years. Our academic programs, accelerated classes, and engaging online classrooms make learning accessible to a diverse population. As a Chief Learning Officer (CLO) for Champlain College Online you would be responsible for the academic leadership and administration of the college's division. Your role would involve managing and supervising the online assistant deans, program directors, and faculty, while developing and implementing academic policies and procedures, ensuring the quality of online programs, and promoting student success. Champlain College Online has a separate governance from the traditional college, thus there is a dual reporting structure to the VP of Online and the President of Champlain College. To be successful as an online CLO you should have a deep understanding of online education, accreditation standards, and assessment, experience in academic leadership, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your specific job responsibilities include: • Providing leadership and direction for the online college's academic programs and ensuring that they are aligned with the college's and * Overseeing the e-learning director and their instructional designers that develop and deliver online courses, ensuring that they meet quality standards and are consistent with best practices in online education. • Collaborating closely with leadership peers in the division that lead student advisement, student success, and retention in online programs and developing strategies to improve outcomes. • Strategic oversight as it relates to prioritizing recruiting, hiring, and supervision of faculty for online programs, evaluating their performance, and ensuring their professional development. • Collaborating with other administrators and departments to develop and implement policies and procedures related to online education, such as admission requirements, grading policies, and academic support services. • Ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and regulations related to higher education as well as online education. • Working with CCO marketing and enrollment management to promote the online college and attract new students. • Developing and managing the academic team's budget, including allocating resources for assessment, new programs, new hires, contractors, vendors, faculty development, instructional materials, and technology. • Serving as a liaison between the online college and other departments, such as financial aid, registrar, and student affairs. • Representing the online college to external stakeholders as the academic leader of this separate division, such as accrediting agencies, professional organizations, and community partners. This also includes representing Champlain College Online with employer partnerships and donors. • Oversee multiple centers that include: Teacher Apprenticeship Program, Center for Appreciative Inquiry, and Center for Financial Literacy. Requirements: Required Qualifications • Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution, or equivalent international institution • Significant, relevant experience at senior leadership level in an online, higher institution or division • Direct online, instructional experience • Direct experience managing faculty, program chairs, or other academic staff • Prior departmental or divisional budget management experience • Demonstrated ability to work with and be sensitive to the needs of diverse populations Preferred Qualifications • Direct experience with regional accreditation standards and/or site visit • Served on regional accreditor mock or onsite review team • Proficient with Canvas, Salesforce, and Colleague • Intellectual contributions in areas of diversity and inclusion Additional Information: The successful completion of a criminal background check is required as a condition of employment.
